Was looking at Nitros TSS loads and see they are star crimping them vs Roll Crimp from all other TSS loads including APEX. What is the difference in these 2 crimps?
Makes no difference in the load or how it shoots.
The rolled crimp requires an overshot card, where the star crimp doesn't.
Need to seal the star crimp to maintain buffer, Not necessary with the rolled crimp.
Over time I have more trust in a roll crimp.
I have seen several nitro loads with the crimps opening up, never was impressed with the quality control of their shells. I know they were the king of patterns for a while but I never bit the bullet on them.
I think nitros are great. Haven't shot their tss yet but been shooting the hevis for years. If I ever have had a shell where the crimp or sealant leaked I called them and they told me to keep the shell and they sent me a replacement free of cost. After all, they are true handloads so I feel like it's part of the territory as long as they warranty them.
