Title: Turkey thugs gobbler chair
Post by: chbarnha on March 19, 2018, 07:33:45 PM
I don't know if anybody else hated the sling that came on these chairs but they are way to short and completely impractical. I did a easy mod that may have already been done on here but if so I haven't seen it. I had an older quake claw sling that I haven't used in years. Well I cut the old strap off and rigged this sling to work on the chair. 1000 times better than the little webbed, too short strap that came with it.

Great idea! The strap that comes on them is not built for comfort.

No doubt the strap is the weak link in these seats. Gonna look at mine in the morning, thanks for the idea. I used to carry a big gun and a little seat, I now carry a little gun and a big seat.

It must be like the one on the Gobbler Lounger..I agree the original strap sucks. When the Gobbler Lounger first came out it had a chair bag that came with it.
A gal on here use to make them after they stopped being sold with the chair. I wish I'd bought one. My first chair has a bag second spare chair the small strap..
That old claw sling I'm sure helps a bunch... :icon_thumright:

it makes it where you can sling it across your back. pretty sure I wont even know its there now, and I hated toting this thing before, but once you get in it makes your sit so much more comfortable. The sling mod definitely made it where it wont be left for the vest now. I don't know who thought that little sling that is nowhere near long enough was a good idea

I have a couple that I use when I take the kids with me. I did the same thing with the straps from an old back pack sprayer and it made a huge improvement. I also got a couple little dog collars with the quick snaps ends and attached them to the end of each chair to secure them tighter when folded up so they dont rattle as we walk.

Love this idea.  Also drill out the cheap rivets that hold the D rings on and replace with a screw and nut.  By the way, I just came from my local Walmart and they have the chairs in the sporting goods section.

Yeah they have them at mine as well, I'm going to pick up a spare this week. At 19$ it's hard to beat and I have found that setting up the chair whenever I setup is not a problem. I use one of the turkey thugs fanny packs and the chair as opposed to a vest now and it makes the hunt more enjoyable for me. If the situation where the chair setting up time will cost
Me one I'll just sit down and deal with it.
