Title: Gobbler yelper?
Post by: chbarnha on March 15, 2018, 01:21:54 PM
How many people carry a gobbler yelper in the woods? I have a slate from mad hatter calls that says on the package gobbler yelper/clucker. It's never been in the woods as I've never really found the need for it. Does anybody else carry one and am I missing out on something?

I've never had a problem getting a gobbler yelp from any of my pot calls when running it toward the center of the call. Slow your cadence and the pot surface should produce suitable gobbler yelps and clucks.

A mentor showed me the value of gobbler yelps and clucks to entice a bird hung up out of range. Some years given the timing of the season gobbler yelps may be the only call a group of longbeards will respond to.
