Title: 870 Shur Shot Stock?
Post by: Dr.Love on March 15, 2018, 12:31:12 PM
Added a shur shot stock to my 870 20 ga, having a hard time keeping me head down on the stock. Looking to add a cheek pad or something like that to help this problem. Anyone have and ideas that will fit on an aftermarket stocks.
Thanks

There is no shortage of aftermarket cheek pads or comb raisers out there. Lots of options.  This one gets good reviews and comes in camo colors too.

The best option is to put a red dot on your gun.  Then don't have to worry about getting cheek down, or even looking straight on.  If you can see the red dot from any angle, it'll hit what its pointing at.

Red dot is great solution for keeping the cheek down on the shur shot stock. It solved the point of impact problem by brother was having with his point of impact fluctuating so much.

One good trick to find out the correct height cheek riser that will work but takes a little time to nail down is cut a roll of toilet paper in half and lay it in on your stock comb. Peel off layers while shooting and find out how high the final product is when get to that "sweet spot". Then find a riser that is the same height or very close to it.

If you are looking for a cheek pad, I recommend the God A Grip. I've used several of them with good results.

I second the God-a-Grip. Lifts the cheek and also eases cheek slap tremendously. Only negative is it does seem to add some noticeable weight.

Search the forum , a guy on here , took a file and with just little work fix the problem your having with the stock . From reading that pass post , i think he said it didn't take a lot to change the pitch ....

I understand adding a pad for cheek slap but is that gonna raise you're head up even higher? Guess I'm confused about what is going on. Are you getting cheek slap or are you having trouble getting you're head down on the sights because of the sure-shot?

I cant get me head down on the shur shot stock because its so low.

Ask sswv on here. He just put one on my 20 ga 870.  He had to do a little fitting to mine to get it right. They are not drop in and bolt up to fit. How I know this is he bolted it up to mine as factory and then handed me his that had been modified and a world of difference. So he made mine like his.
