How rare are these?  I would think some would be fakes, whether the seller knew or not, kind of like some costs.

To each their own but we have discussed $200 pot calls here and to me that is steep. I know boxes and trumpets go higher but I just don't get it. Then these eBay ones over 25K? That's crazy that would be a large chunk of my salary. I'd rather buy another truck for that much.

You gotta blow your play money on something.  A piece of turkey hunting history like that would be a pretty neat thing to have in one's collection.

I think someone has more money than common sense, if the auction was real.  Even if I had the money there is no way I would pay that for a turkey call. I buy calls to hunt with, not to showcase my wealth (or lack thereof...lol).  Just my two cents.

I have to agree with Rufus, calls are meant to hunt with. It would be nice to have a piece of turkey hunting history but the joy comes in using calls not just looking at them, at least for me. But to each their own.

Well it sold for 1700 so compared to the $20k+ prior ones on ebay someone got a deal.
But who thinks its real and who thinks its fake?  The screw isnt right and if the pat. date is 1892 it should be 1897. A 7 can look like a 2 but this one does look like there is a line on the bottom making it a 2. What are people looking for on these calls to make sure they are not a repo. Plenty of Cost boxes out there that are fake but thats during our lifetime, these Gibson calls were 100 yrs ago and most people are unfamiliar with them.

I think this is one of those things that if I ever decided to spend that much money on a call i would locate one and do a face to face with another collector, even if it cost more or I had to travel. If I ever can spend that much on a call i should have the freetime and money to travel for it.
