Where do you place the rear sight on the rib?  I have been told that it should be placed as far back as possible??

i try to put it on the same plane as the front sight. The rib has a curve in i, so I try to match them when possible. I'll also move the location of the sight to adjust POA/POI.

15 inches from back of rib, works very well!

I place the front and rear sights as far apart as I can.

A lot depends on your eyesight.  I have great distance vision but need reading glasses (I am 59).  If I have the rear sight too close it is really fuzzy and distorts the front sight.  I moved my rear sight forward a bit for a better and clearer sight picture.  It did not change my POI.
