Title: spring in box
Post by: tha bugman on March 12, 2018, 11:33:19 AM
I bought a Mossberg 835 on Saturday.  It was the last one Wally had and it was the display model.  When I got home I took it out of the box and found a small spring (approx 1/2") long loose in the box.  I dry fired the gun several times without any problems.  I then took it to the range and shot it at least 20-30 times without any problems.  I wonder what it could be?  I got to wondering if it was just something that was placed in the box by accident.  BTW this kind of stuff only happens to me..... ::) :P

The ONLY placemi can think of the 835 having a coil spring is in the trigger group and I believe it is a stretch type with looped ends.  Its been a while since I've dropped the trigger group on my current 835 so maybe ill have to do that. Likely just an erroneous spring that got thrown in by mistake though.

The safety has a small coil spring holding pressure on the tension ball.

Not sure what it looks like but also extractor spring and firing pin spring.  Obviously if its one of these and the gun is firing, then its an extra.
