Title: 1st gobbles in C.T. today
Post by: turkaholic on March 11, 2018, 12:34:04 PM
I herd my first gobbles of 2018 this morning, glad to see they are back on schedule. I keep track of the first gobbles on my farm in CT and have done so for quite some time. Every year I post them up just for the fun of it. Last year was the worst year for me in over 30 years of hard core turkey hunting, that's hard core in my opinion. I normally hunt 23 to 30 days a  season. So here goes, 3/14/06 - 3/11/07 - 3/16/08 - 3/19/09 - 3/17/10 - 3/13/11 - 3/11/12 - 3/24/13 - 3/22/14 - 3/8/15 - 3/11/16 - 3/31/17 - 3/11/18. Last year was the latest date for first gobbles in 13 years. This year is more normal, I am seeing a good volume of birds this year and think the hatch did pretty well. Good luck to all.

Cool records to keep.  I grew up not far from you, but in Massachusetts.  I go back every year to hunt late April or early May.  My buddy back there just heard his first gobbles of the year last weekend.  Hoping for a good year.

Awesome. 2 weeks ago here in CT as well I "forced" my first
Gobbles of 2018 by cutting hard on a mouth call at some birds in some guy's yard. My wife called me a creeper haha.
