Title: Hawk Screamer?
Post by: StruttinGobbler3 on March 11, 2018, 07:51:18 AM
Just curious, anyone here use a hawk screamer call as a less commonly heard locator? If so what kind? I had considered trying it, as the turkeys around me hear crows nonstop every day.

Yes.  Try to find a vintage PS Olt hawk call.

A little practice and a decent hawk scream can be had with a diaphragm call.

I've got a crow call from Anthony Ellis that seconds as a hawk screamer when you blow through the side of the mouthpiece. It has definitely shocked a gobble out of some stubborn gobblers for me. Another option to consider is a high pitch coyote call. A few yips on a coyote call works well too.
