Title: How to oil box call spring?
Post by: BottomLand54 on March 07, 2018, 03:59:37 PM
Guys How do you get the squeal out of your spring without taking paddle off and messing with the tune the builder turned it too. I sometimes get a spring that will squill due to sometimes dust or chalk gettin on it and drying it out. how do you guys oil your springs? and what kind of oil do you use?

If you don't want to remove the lid, push it down against the spring and apply a little bow string wax to the bottom of the screw head. That usually works for me.

I wouldn't oil it, I'd be afraid the oil would eventually run down the screw threads and get on the wood then end up on the calling surface,  I have a call that squeaks from the spring I had my son run it every way possible and when i wasn't holding it close to me I couldn't hear it at all. Now i understand a turkeys hearing is way better than mine but it hasn't bothered the birds i've called in with it.
