Title: boss gobbler down
Post by: longbeardlife.com on April 18, 2011, 09:56:56 PM
Had a bird that I called in on two different ocassions for clients and they both shot and missed or I thought they did. So with all my clients done for the year I decided to try him again for myself. First morning I had him gobbling but he wouldnt budge. I watched him chase jakes all over a field, so I had the answer to that problem. I called a taxidermist friend of mine that mounts jakes for decoys. Not only are they jakes but the fan will raise up and down. So we set up on  day 2 with jake decoy and two hens. He flew down and gobbled good and started our way but held up until the sun hit the decoys just right and that was all she wrote. We shot the bird at twenty yards and it was an awesome hunt. The bird had a 12in. beard with 1.25 in. spurs and 18 lbs. and best of all I got it all on film. I will try and post it soon so everyone can see it.  That was a great end to my season because when we cleaned the bird we found three different size and ages of shot in the bird. That shows that all misses are not all clean misses....

thanks,  I got guy editing it for me now. I also am about to release a you tube video with several kills on it soon. I will let you know when its out. This weekend will wrap it up here in Florida so I will have to read all about your hunts. So good luck and keep the post rolling.
