Opening Day at last here in MD. Took a buddy out who has never killed a bird. Not many gobbles to be heard, but managed to call in 2 jakes a half hour apart. First one came sneaking in to ~20 yds, caught something and Eric shot as he turned to leave. Somehow he flew away. 2nd one came in struttin like a big dog on my side. Eric didn't realize I wasn't gonna shoot a jake so he hadn't gotten his gun up. He went 15 yds to my left circling in behind and started putting. I told Eric to shoot as the bird was walking away...he did, twice and the bird flew off! I have taken him a few times over the years, just can never seem to get a bird in front of him. Well today I did my part.
Shooting at birds is enough to make it a good day!!!
