And it begins... First public land Osceola of the season down. He couldn't get enough of the old rifle shell wingbone cocobola Buice. 4 birds came in and he seemed to be the dominant bird. He strutted the entire time while the others did not. He had the start of beard rot with only an 8" beard with orange tips. 1.25" spurs. I really wanted to kill a bird with this call and I accomplished that today!!!!! They must have gobbled 100 times this morning. The first gobble was at 5:06. Crazy. Hoping to get my father on one of the others this week. He has never been turkey hunting before. I'm loving the new 20 gauge as well. First bird with it. I don't foresee going back to a 12-gauge anytime soon. In my excitement over the Buice call, I forgot to say congrats on the successful hunt!
My season opener is still 6 weeks away. Still buried in snow here.

Thanks Norman. Paisley got her turkey tote in the mail yesterday afternoon. She loves it. Now time to find a bird for her. I wish I had the title before my hunt. It wo of have helped out with the mile walk back. Maybe my father can break it in Wednesday.
