I'll be heading to southeast KS this spring, got access to a small parcel of private land. I haven't hunted KS in years. If you could pick 3-4 days to hunt that area, what would they be? I know weather is always a wildcard in the spring.
last week of april
I'd make May 1st the 3rd day of the trip.
1st week of May 2/2 every year for 5 years straight. Just make sure if you hunt around wheat fields that the wheat doesn't get to tall.
Don't think wheat being to tall will be an issue this year. We are very dry. There are counties that haven't seen measurable rainfall in 160ish days. We had some big wildfires yesterday and it's warmer and windier today. I'm afraid to walk through the pasture for fear my thighs rubbing together will start a grass fire.
We've been getting enough rain down in here in central Arkansas, we could share some.
I've always had the urge to hunt opening week in fear birds would become pressured or killed. I'm hoping this land won't be pressured much, I don't think many others have access.
I'm guessing the reason to wait until end of April is so the hens will be sitting on nests by then?
Thanks...
I like early to mid May
I like May. April weather can be more unpredictable than Mid May
Thanks for the advice...
First week of May.
Looks like weekend of 4/28 or 5/5 then
