Title: Tactacam Tips
Post by: zelmo1 on March 02, 2018, 12:18:10 PM
My lovely wife got me a tactacam for Christmas, and tips on how to get best performance? Limitations, lighting?, any tips are welcome. Thanks, Al Baker

Don't forget to turn it on. If bow hunting, shoot your bow with it on to learn to follow through for better footage. I enjoy mine.

Yes, don't forget to turn it on, for sure! Also, keep an extra battery charged. I have found that if they sit around for long without use, the battery life isn't the greatest. Plenty enough to capture the moment of truth, but not enough to do a whole lot of additional videoing.

I mount mine under the barrel, great footage up until you pull the trigger. Even shooting a 20ga it is imposable to stay on target. I always run it on the 5x zoom.

I built a little stand for it out of a decoy stake to set beside me.

We replaced a GoPro with the Tactacam, way better for hunting. It still covers our B-roll, we use our Canon cameras for main footage.
Depending on model you have, I like the smartphone app and learn to keep bow or gun on "target" after the shot. They have some new accessories out for the year!

When will the 5 be released? I don't see it or anything new on the website.

Here's what I built for it. Hope I get some kills on video this will be the first time I've ever tried any kind of videoing. It'll be awesome to capture the hunt and share with friends and family.

Seems once the "video bug" bites it just keeps getting worse "better". I started filming just to share with family and friends, I began using footage in my seminars (educational aspect) and then started filming for a "Sponsored" buddy of mine and I film my solo hunts too. Still do all of the above and have been through several camera setups, been with the Canon Cameras for while.
