Title: Another Superbowl/Eagles question
Post by: idgobble on February 05, 2018, 03:54:23 PM
I think Eagles coach Pederson has a QB dilemma for next season. He has a backup QB who just pulled off a great upset against the Patriots and deserves to be a starting QB and he has another great starting QB who did a fantastic job earlier and is recovering from an injury. Who do you start next season?

I Think this is a pretty safe bet. The super bowl winner will stay and the original starting quarterback will move on. It's all about popularity and money. No way they will ditch the quarterback that finally won them a super bowl they will up his pay and keep him. That means that Mr usta start is looking for a new job cause they aren't gonna pay the big bucks to both of them.

Tough to say. You've got two guys you could stick the franchise tag on. Wentz got you there but Foles finished it for you and ran the playoffs. I've been saying for a while now that Jimmy Garropolo and Nick Foles were both top shelf QBs that needed to be on the field somewhere. Jimmy got his chance when he went to San Fran and immediately started showing out and now Foles possibly just took the top from a job from a top 10 QB in the league. Going to be an odd predicament for Philly this offseason.

I doubt seriously that the Eagles will trade Wentz under any circumstances.  He is viewed as their long-term franchise QB, at least at the moment.

I would not be surprised if Foles chooses to stay in his role as back-up, but after his performance during the playoffs, he may well be a sought-after commodity as a starter for another team. However, part of his success on the Eagles is/was likely due to his offensive line's ability to protect him and give him time to survey the field and then make the correct decision.  Without that protection, and being rushed in the decision-making process, he could go back to performing as an average NFL QB.

I don't think Carson Wentz is going anywhere.  He is young and has already shown promise as having the skills and intelligence to be one of the league's top-tier QB's.  Of course, as we have seen with other QB's, injuries can really impact a player, both physically and mentally.

Some team will throw enough draft picks and money  at the Eagles to get Foles.  Wentz stays.

Foles is now the biggest hero in Philadelphia since George Washington lived there.  I think it would be pretty unpopular to trade him.

NFL is totally unpredictable as of late. If you would've told me the Pats would've gotten rid of Garopollo or the Skin would've gotten rid of Cousins I would have called you crazy. I can however name you about 5 teams that could use Foles right now but like GobbleNut said....he won't have near the protection or talent around him.
