Title: Dick Kerby Calls
Post by: KYHeadhunter02 on February 04, 2018, 10:39:52 PM
Anyone purchased any of his calls from his  personal collection or calls he's made? A lot have been sold,  but they still have quite a few. I wonder if they will rise in value over time?

One of Mr. Kirby's trough calls. It runs perfectly. The first time I heard a turkey sound, it was Mr. Kirby running his calls at a small outdoor show many, many, many years ago. No one hunted turkeys back then, just small game and deer season. My Dad bought me a two reed mouth call from him, and I was hooked into turkeys. I promised myself that day I would make a slate call like the one Mr. Kirby was running, which I did. Mr. Fulcher of Shadetree Turkey Calls surprised me with a couple scratchers made from Mr. Kirby's personal wood pile, and these Kirby calls mean a lot to me.

I own two trough calls in walnut and butternut. Great sounding calls full of turkey. I also bought one of his long boxes made of walnut and cedar. Again a great call that I may hunt some before putting it up. Trough calls have been and will again head to the woods this year. I never had the chance to meet Mr. Kirby but have friends who have and every one will tell you what a nice guy he was. He even helped a few with their call making.

I bought two calls, they come with signed letters saying that he owned them.  That will help with future sells but Im not going to be selling the ones I got.

I bought a Buffalo Nickel series Neil cost Repro paddle caller.  Nice call and, I thought, priced right.  IMHO, a lot of the calls listed are NOT at the price point they should be.  But if they can get those numbers for them............more power to 'em.
