After 3 pathetic attempts that resulted in futility I finally got my first box call that sounds like a turkey. Mr. Lonnie Mabry taught me the basics but I've got a long way to go.
It's Walnut and poplar.
Looks good, congrats. You got sound your happy with?

I'm happy with the sound for what I consider my first huntable box call but I've got a lot to learn.

Yes sir, any time I try to learn something new I try to learn from the best person who'll help me. Mr. Mabry was very gracious.
I'll take all the instruction I can get? Any tips?
Im sure you wont get any better knowledge from anyone else.

Chad "Stumpy" Hutcheson taught me how to make pot calls and I've really enjoyed it. I wanted to add box calls this year.
Keep at it... Its my favorite pastime. They will only get better and if you are like me you'll never really be totally satisfied. Always trying to make the next call better than the last.
