Nomad is going to do very well with this product, highest quality vest since the Limbhanger.  For people to spend $250 for a Limbhanger or $600 for a Dixon, this vest will have a huge piece of the market at their price point.  And when cowboys feel the stitching and nylon on this thing...

$129.99 and it seems very well put together. The only thing I even question is the quality of the zippers on the pockets. I'll probably buy another just save because we all know as soon as a company finds out they've made a great product they'll discontinue it. Lol.

Don't worry about the zippers, same manufacturer makes the zippers for Osprey packs and also Helly Hansen I believe.  Real quality throughout

Looks like the front is set up like the old Dixon vest. If it is I'm in the market for one...

Where did you find one? I'm not seeing it on their website.

Found them at Field & Stream in Asheville NC. Ironically we went to a Mall to let my wife shop for her birthday and I found those in stick. Lol.

I called their store and they will not ship until the item is available on their website---which it is not.  BUMMER!

I am not bashing just passing along what I read. A fellow on face book said the Nomad is no where the quality of a Russell vest.  And he was not impressed.

That's possible. I've never seen a Russell to make a comparison. As much interest as there is in the Bob Dixion & Limbhanger vests you'd think they'd still make them.

For now this Nomad for $129 is as close as I can find.

How do strikers fit in the pockets?  They look kind of short.  And how do they close? Button?

CAUTION                    just look close at the vest before you buy one, I looked at them ready to by one at Field & Stream,  one had a split zipper ON THE upper right outside pocket, and 2 others on the lower right slat call pocket the button was really hard to get snapped and kept popping open. i hope it was just coincidence because this is exactly the vest i'm looking for, these are really nicely laid out and great looking vest's.

Dangit Grey Owl, I clicked on that link and wound up buying another vest showing under that one.  And here I was all set to not buy anything turkey this year. :toothy12:
But the price was real good on the one I bought! :icon_thumright:

set up very similar to dixon/ limhanger.  cushion should be very thick and has a thermacell pocket on the front, wish it had two box call holders on the front.

Looks great!
Shell loops? Does it have a second box call pocket?

Only one box call holder. I wish that Thermocell holder was another box call holder instead. How many people actually carry a Thermocell? I'll probably use it for my GPS.

And no shell loops. I thought the same thing. One of those zipper pockets needed shell loops in them.

A thermocell is a must for me.  Black flies can be unbearable up here in the spring, along with the mosquito's and deer flies.

Ditto on the Thermacell. I'd say it's  mandatory for about 90% of my spring hunting. I love late season hunting and here in the northeast our mosquitoes are out in force by then.

How much do the Nomad vests weigh? I had a Dixion vest and empty it weighed more than everything I carry , I sold it.

Saw the new Nomad vest this morning at a local Field & Stream store. Gave it a  quick look over. It is a light weight vest that appears to be decently built , however  the pocket layout seems odd.
My opinion , it is not the same build quality or layout as the Limbhanger. Unfortunately this is not the next generation Limbhanger.

The geeenleaf model went up for sale on the field and stream website last night for anyone interested. I went ahead and got myself to one to give a go!

It's a "one size fits most" deal but plenty of adjustment room.

I ordered one so I'll find out myself in due time but just out of curiosity is there a quick access area for locator calls anywhere? Not a deal breaker. I can make a lanyard to go on the should straps easily but I just can't tell from the pictures if there is an area for them.
