Title: Optics for New to Me SBE 2
Post by: Gobbler428 on January 29, 2018, 09:14:54 PM
I am in the process of purchasing a slightly used, less than 10 shots fired, SBE 2.  From what I have read on this forum as well as others these guns are much more accurate with optics.  I am accustom to using open sights on my current BPS and would like to know, A. Should I put optics on this gun? and B. If so, then what type and brand should I get?  I am open relative to cost but would like to have a quality optic that is accurate, reliable and will take a beating and keep on ticking. Thanks in advance for your advice.

Better than 20 years without fail and works great! Bushnell Trophy Shotgun Scope with Circle-X Reticle, 1.75-4 x 32mm.
I call it "The Circle of Death", have same scope on both guns, I have a buddy using the Nikon Turkey Pro and been reading on the Leupold, any of these would fit the need.

X2 on the Eotech 512 and SBE 2.  Killed a bunch of birds with this combo before I moved to Weatherby 20 ga.  Still using the Eotech sight.   Tough as nails.

I like the Aimpoint micro.  Pricey but durable.  The small red dots are nice as well and very light and unobtrusive.  Look at the Trijicon, Vortex or Burris.  I have a Burris but would have preferred the Vortex 6moa because it has 10 light settings, the Burris only 3.  They are the same size and use the same mounts.

The Eotech is a decent option, but sits too high for me forcing my head off the stock.

Thanks for the information, opinions and options guys.  Certainly gives me a lot to consider based on all of your background and experience with the various sights.

I would shoot the gun before ever thinking about an optic.  My SBE2 shoots dead on.  Give it a chance before dumping $ on optics UNLESS you just want an optic.
