Title: fore end nut/cap
Post by: tnanh on January 15, 2018, 12:13:11 AM
I have an 870 20 gauge and I have two fore end nuts/caps for it. One of them goes on smooth and one of them makes clicking sounds when I put it on. Does it matter which one to use on it?

The one that is making the clicking sound is probably the original one from the factory as they are suppose to make a clicking sound when they are tightened up, the other one is probably aftermarket.

Will they work equally well? The one that clicks doesn't have a swivel stud in it and the smooth one has a swivel stud in it. The gun came with both when I bought it used a few years ago and I have never shot it.

As long as the barrel feels tight when you snug it down shoot it.
I have one with a swivel and it doesn't click
Not had a problem yet
My factory one does click though
Your good make sure it's tight and hunt it

It should work okay but you might want to periodically check once in a while when you are hunting.
