When mounting fast fire III on a pic rail is it recommend closer to the eye or further toward the barrel

Another question I just purchased a pic rail for a Mossberg 20ga and installed, recalled seeing in a post about a 336 rail is that for drilling and tapping guns or just better to use on a already factory drilled and tapped.  If Id be better to purchase a 336 rail will the holes match up on a Mossberg 500?

It is up to you. i like mine further away. I have all of mine mounted towards the far end of the receiver.Lee

I dont have a mossberg. But the 336 mount will give you a cleaner and lower mount than the piccatiny rail. It just looks nicer. The piccatiny mount works the FF just sits a little higher.Lee

Guess I'm confused is the 336 a rail like the pic rail just slimmer does it bolt down the same with 4 screws?

the 336 mount sits directly on the reciever and the ff3 mounts directly to it. Since there is no piccatiny rail under it it sits much lower and more pleasing to the eye. its a nice set up.Lee

Burris fastfire base # 410333 for marlin 336.
not listed but fits mossberg 500. others know more about what mossbergs it will fit.Lee

Doing a search on the #410333 shows two different ones one has the two holes that look like it aligns up right the others have three holes two on one end SxS and one on the other and that want work.  Guessing when I order they send the right one.  And I recognize the two holes for the sight to screw to the base.

If you run the burris base it is 410333 that most ran in the past.   We run our base on all them now but I have one of the 336 if you need it.

To answer your original question I like the red dot closer to my eye than towards the barrel when mounting on a pictinny rail . I think you have a little more fov .

Sumtoy Mount is the best contact sumtoy on here tell him you need a ff3 Mount. When you PayPal him the money make sure in the notes you put what you need for what Gun and your shipping address William gets busy at times and can't keep up with everything.
