Title: SOcal Has No More Gobbling What So Ever! What TO DO?
Post by: socalturkeyman on April 15, 2011, 05:20:36 PM
Well Ive had a few guys I know tell me that there is NO MORE GOBBLING! Socal has shut down. Now I think Im still going back out cause you never know, but what should I use for tactics:

A: should I just sit and call every so often?
B: Go hike around areas that I hunt and look for a lonely turkey?
C: or just go to the spot where I shot my last one to see if another turkey has taken his place yet? (I know that there was about 6 more gobblers/possible jakes in the area).

I would still go hunt.I don't think they killed every turkey in So Cal.Use gobbler yelps if you have to.Thats what I do in the late spring.

Im hunting for sure, I was just wondering how and what tactics I should use or do. But I think I'll start by going to my listing spot on a ridge and go from there. So far I cant find roost trees, which I never have come close to doing so. I just run and gun mostly since the public lands are small that I hunt and can cover them in about two hours. Im not really one to just sit and wait. We will see what happens.
