well over the past two days ive laid down a little more than 7 miles worth of boot leather scouting for birds in Lancaster county PA public land... no gobbles, no tracks, no feathers, scratchings, or droppings..
I know theres not a lot of birds in the area thats why I usually go north but Im just trying to find a local spot I can take my wife out on weekdays before work and try and get her first bird down. I have a few more spots I wanna check out next week but i was really hoping todays spot would yield results. I saw at least 15 deer this morning while scouting so i might have to hunt archery there this year but thats not what im looking for now.
I just hope I can locate at least 1 bird before season.
You know as well as I, there are more hunters on public land than turkey, I face the same problem every year hunting in Dauphin, for me the worse days are saturday,,during the week there is very little pressure, only a few retired guys like me..Good luck..
