Well not long ago I came across some Wormy Butternut blanks and wanted some calls made by some highly respected call makers. Mr Richard Hudson being one of them and he delivered! This call is the result of that piece of wood I sent him matched with a Jatoba lid. Sounds like a mature hen that breaks into a nice rasp. Both sides play exceptionally well.
Thanks again Richard(https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20170813/fdf72a996d02cafe8ae06c1b9a9b7253.jpg)

Congrats...I love the style and looks of that. Nice one.. :icon_thumright:
Love Richards work and still need to get one of his turpin boxes. Always wanted to try butternut for a turpin box and may have to give it a go for the fall. Just need to find the time.http://oldgobbler.com/Forum/Smileys/classic/z-dizzy.gif

Richard makes some great calls!! Congrats!!
some nice looking wormy butternut...
One of the best right there! Congrats on a fine call with exceptional lumber.
That's a beauty and coming from Richard I'm sure it's all turkey. Congrats!!
Im going have to get some butternut for a hen box. I like the sound of this call.
Richard
I've had some good responses to this box. You've caught the attention of quite a few fellas with that Butternut. You matched that wood with the right lid.
Thanks for the comments. This style of calls seem to be picky about which lid they like. This combo may not work on the next butternut but i intend to find out.
Very nice, congratulations to both you and Richard.
Why...Why do you do this to me??? :'( :'( :'(
sharp looking box call, nice character in the butternut
That's a fine turpin there. He builds some killers.
Question for you guys. I've had a few people tell me since posting this call that not many turpins or hen boxes are made of butternut. Why? Just curious. I think butternut makes a fine box call. It sure has made a great Turpin out of this call.
