Title: Summer Fishing
Post by: Improvinghunter101 on June 25, 2017, 02:09:56 PM
The wife and I are going up to Michigan in the beginning of August near Hamlin Lake around Ludington.  We're going to do the charter boat thing for some salmon one day but was thinking about taking my boat and trying to catch some smallmouth bass or pike.  Anybody have any tips or pointers?  I've never fished for smallies or pike. I can only assume that everything for smallies is similar to largemouth.

Pike are very tasty but have lots of bones.

Silver lake near Ludington is good for crappie, bass and the occasional walley. Best to fish the lake near dusk. I fish it every year and we take a few nice bass every year. The lake isn't to big and about a mile of sand dunes separates it from Lake michigan. Are you going to get a charter out of pentwater?

Sorry for the late response. Thanks for the info!  We are going through Lie a Lot charters out of Ludington.  Read a few reviews on the different charters and then just picked one and went with it.  Hopefully it'll be decent fishing.
