Does anyone know why 3.5 in" became standard for pots just curios

most of the playing surface are all 3.5 inches in dia... glass, slate and all the other playing surface and most sound boards are 3 inches in dia, as for why, I do not know that part....
I use to build a lot 3in surface calls I would say its easyer to get a turkey sound from a 3.5 surface then a 3in surface With 3in call you eather got it or u don't had many that just didn't make the cut
I prefer 3" personally, they fit in my hand better.

I build a 3.25 and 3" as well. 3.5" is just the standard
Smaller is usually higher pitch and struggle with roll over in my experience. I prefer 3.5, but have some 3.25 as well. Below that they get tough for me to work with. The larger size gives more area and find a bigger sweet spot.
