Turned this one today. I decided to try out some phenolic resin from guitarpartsandmore.com. I figured it ought to produce good sound since it is the same stuff that billiard balls are made from. Wow is this thing ever loud! Very crisp and easy rollover as well.

Brian,
Congratulations on that beautiful trumpet...

Nice job!!
Awesome!
How did it turn? I have some but haven't tried it yet.
Anthony it turned a bit like African Blackwood. You can go fairly fast but when you get toward the end you do need to slow down and keep your chisel very sharp. Otherwise you would have to spend a lot more time sanding. I sanded it down to 1000 grit and then used one-step plastic polish. I had it more shiny but decided to back it off and give it a more satin finish since it is a hunting call. Certainly doesn't smell very good but I always wear a dust mask so that helps.
Great piece of work Brian
