Title: Newer Toyota truck owners
Post by: OLE RASPY on February 10, 2011, 08:42:14 PM
I bought a 2008 yota tundra i have already ask the dealer about it and they said its ok its nothing. When i stop at a light or stop sign then take off again there is a thump in the rear of the truck.(not everytime though). It did it so hard one time i thought somebody had actually bumped me.Have yall ever experienced this. They told me its called a slip joint in the rear end so when u load it down the drive shaft has to change angles so its made like that.A guy at work said his dads new chevy does it to.Just wondering if any body on here has a truck that does this. Its not hurting nuthing but its annoying sometimes.

I had a 2008 tacoma that was in and out of the shop the bed squeaked and they said they fixed it.. After 10 trips to the dealershipi called the number in the book... The rep told me she would look into it and get back with me.. A few days later she called and toyota decided it was normal for my truck to squeak... She also told me I could get a secound opinion... So I did at the GMC place... I've had 15 new trucks and I know a new truck isnt suppose to squeak...

This may help if you havent got it fixed already.  Mines an 05 with 140,000 and still doesnt squeak http://www.tacomaworld.com/forum/2nd-gen-tacomas/98055-diy-squeaky-leaf-fix.html

I have one.

Here's what I found from Tunda Talk.

Got a Ford and it does it too.  Not a bad fix on mine, never done it on a yota.  Just remove the drive shaft from the slip yoke, grease the splines real good, and put it back together.  Should remedy it for a while.

I have an 05 and get that thump or thud on a regular basis. I have had it since I bought the truck. No idea what it is but the truck runs great
