Title: Kansas Eastern
Post by: Spring Creek Calls on May 18, 2017, 10:04:34 PM
Was fortunate to get away for a few more days and try to fill the tag I bought back in April. Shot this bird this morning after catching him slipping into a wooded bottom just before roost time last night. He was right there this morning. Between my calling and the 6 am train, I bet he gobbled 50 times before finally walking across about 200 yards of pasture to get to me. Thank God for HTL ammo as he was not coming any closer. A NE Kansas Eastern weighing 20.5 lbs., 10" beard and 1" spurs. Was standing over him before the sun broke the horizon.

Congratulations on getting him early.  Sounds like a great hunt.

A train whistle is probably too big to carry around, but if that doesn't get 'em going, nothing else will.

Great job on a last minute hunt.
