Title: choke constriction and tss
Post by: PineyRooster on May 07, 2017, 09:24:26 PM
So I have an sbe2 with a 26" barrel and indian creek .665 choke.. from what all I've seen its a good combo for most tss loads. However all the patterns I've seen have been with 3" 2 oz loads.. my question is the IC 665 too much constriction for a 3.5" 2.5 Ounce load of tss 8s?

it has alot to do with what kind of pattern you want.  I have seen 680 to 690 give good patterns but not the crazy big numbers.

870 with 2.5oz of #9s and a 23" barrel.
549/262 with a Indian Creek .665
505/299 with a Indian Creek .675 (Move even pattern overall. I sold the .665.)

I shoot a SBE2 with 26" barrel and a .650 Sumtoy with TSS 9. Get 349 in the 10 at 40 with a 2 ounce load. The flush factory full choke that came with the gun gets 309 but I have no clue what the exit diameter of that choke is. Recoil is ok on 2 oz load with TSS, anything over 2 oz is unnecessary.

I'm looking more for a solid 20" killing pattern not really focused on high 10" numbers. I shoot bead on my gun so a little wiggle room is helpful. I was thinking 665 might be too tight

With 2.5oz of 8's I bet the factory full will be a nasty hunting pattern.

For real?  How do you count that many holes in a 10" circle?  Sounds like one big hole.  I'd like to own the mining rights down range of wherever you hunt.

Around 682.  The 650 is to small for TSS.  You want to open up some.  We did a nova with a 695 it was 250/251 with the 2oz load and forcing cone cut out.
