When I was a kid I bought some of those $2 HS Strut white mouth calls to play with.  First one I bought to hunt with was a Primos Power Crystal and the first custom call I ever bought was a Southland Walnut Slate.

First diaphragm was either an HS or Quaker boy single reed.

First pot call was a Primos power crystal.

First box that I can really recall was a Primos boxcutter.

QB Old boss hen mouth yelpers..

Lynch Fool Proof - 1979. Still have it. I will try to get a photo on here of what is left .. We used to notch our box call bottoms when we killed birds. Looks like a damn beaver got a hold of it.

Also got one of QB's DD Adams replica slates, a Ben Lee super hen, and a Lewis Stowe slate in the late 70s too.. Still own all of them.

I was given a Lynchs World Champion for Christmas when I was 6. Killed a ton of turkeys over that call, and one side's even split nowadays. It's time that one gets shelfed, and used only for particular special hunts. Just ordered another Lynchs to replace it.

First call I used and killed with was a tube I made from a couple 35mm film cans, some black electrician's tape and a surgical glove.

First calls I bought were Smith's (Summerville, PA) 2 and 3 reed diaphragms and an H.S. Strut Champion Yelper one-sider box.
