Guys:
Helping a friend setup his old 3" BPS; he has a couple of boxes of REM Hevi-Shot #6.
Any ideas on what choke tubes or constrictions might work well to try out first ??
(He has a couple chokes but don't have the particulars yet) THKS.
NB
try an indian creek .665

That shell responded very well to tight chokes in the .640 to .650 range, depending upon design.
Thanks,
Clark
THANKS, Clark and Hougie. That gives me some ideas as where to start. :thanks:
NB
big thing is if it is invector or invector plus.
plus 670 to 675
invector 650 to 660.
Both of my Invector Plus guns pattern the "Old Green" Remingtons and the Hevi-13, 5's, 6's,& 7's best w/ the IC .670. However, both guns pattern best w/ the IC .675 w/ HeavyBlends. I killed a bunch of gobblers w/ the "Old" Remingtons, 5's & 6's and got the best patterns w/ the higher payload/lower velocity shells in both the 3" and 3 1/2" configuration. I get best patterns w/ an IC .660 in my straight Invector shotguns w/ both the "old" Remingtons and the Hevi-13 loads, not enough difference w/ MagBlends from a .660-.665 or .670 to justify changing chokes.
THANKS again for the great info, guys.
The gun is an older 3" BPS, so it has the Invector choke system. He has a few boxes of the "old" green REM HS shells and we'll be sure to put them to good use. :z-guntootsmiley:

That was a very hot shell for several years in still target competition and I shot hundreds of them in both practice and competition. We learned a lot about those shells from the sheer number that we all shot. That shell introduced a lot of people to Hevi-Shot when it was still pretty much an unknown quantity. It was a learning experience for everyone and really introduced us to tungsten-based shot for the first time.
You brought back a lot of memories!
Thanks,
Clark
Used to shoot the Remington Heavy Shot out of my Beretta 20 guage with Pure Gold choke. 40yd gun for sure. #6's.
