I know there's turkey hunting purists, as well as devout decoy fan boys on all hunting forums. Some hate them and some couldn't kill a gobbler without them. Without pushing your preferred brand or trying to force your opinion on ethical hunting opinions on anyone, just a simple answer will do. Do you currently use a turkey decoy of any kind while turkey hunting?
My answer is.....NOT ANYMORE
pee pee pee NEVER I can call........ :funnyturkey:
No
no
No

No
Yes, when applicable.
never have and not likely to change.
Haven't for several years.

Nope don't use one. Used one a few times and had little success. I may give it a try again someday.
Yes...but they are a huge inconvenience and I'm getting tired of dragging them around.
No
No
Yes and no
I always have an inflatable one with me,but I don't always use it
No
Never always, but sometimes maybe...
(No debate? Good luck...)
No
No
Yes in open fields...no in timber
Fields yes and with kids, no in woods.
Yes..... I use DSD and Deception the most. I have 4 stuffers that see some field time too. I use a ground blind also. I have three Double Bull, one that I got in 1998. All have carbon frames. I pack all my gear in to bow hunt and will turkey hunt all day in Fall and Spring ,in the great states that allow it. Over 3x more birds have died with an arrow over gun for me. I have also fanned em while bowhunting. Maybe some day when I start feeling like a little bee-itch, I will stop lugging all my equipment in and take a shotgun with 3 shell, loaded with TSS , no decoys and shoot turkeys @ 70 plus yards.

Yes
I tote them a couple hunts each year in case I need them but have never killed over them.

Nope
Yes, but have had run and gun hunts where I didn't have time to get it out of my vest before the bird was on top of me.
Off and on. Leaning towards less and less.
yes...have hunted 4 times so far and have had decoys out all 4 times.
have a couple of times , but no for 99 percent of my turkey hunting career no . I bought a couple of montana dekes last year and lugged them one hunt. never put them out and threw them in my attic afterwards.
Never have
I have with mixed results. As a hunter if you aren't willing to adapt and change tactics when the situation calls for it then you will miss opportunities. I will say this year I had the worst results than I ever have. The videos I am seeing with hunters holding full strut decoys right infront of their face is insane. That along with the TSS phenomenon is going to get people killed :z-twocents:
Yes
No.
Yes but not always
Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Did in the past starting out, but rarely anymore.
Depends on the situation
Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
yes but depends if its a field vs. woods. I hunt mostly mountains so rarely do they come out.
yes I have one with me but it all really depends. I have had times that I wished I would have and there are times that I had not... all driven by the situation. I have a friend that as soon as the turkey gobbles he says "Stick the decoy out!"....uhmmmm but we still have 1/2 mile to go :TooFunny:
Yes. I bowhunt from a tent blind. I've already got their eyes beat by totally concealing my movement and the decoys take away any awareness of danger they may have left. It's just as hard to shoot a milk jug but I can't brag that I bowhunt turkeys by shooting milk jugs.

:you_rock: :happy0064: :you_rock: Best one yet!
Yes i carry a feather flex decoy and fold it over the top strand of fences when crossing eliminates tearing my pants.. use it often :OGturkeyhead:
Yes early part of season and less in the later part of season....i don't have a problem with who uses them...If i'm hunting fields always.... decoys are always easy to carry it's that turkey i kill after using the decoys that i have a problem carrying him out to the truck...
Rarely, but Yes - when the situation calls for it.
own them, but have not used them this year
No

I tried them with little luck several years ago. Never really had the need but I could see where a bowhunter could use em
No
Have in past. Not much lately.
Sometimes NO and sometimes YES. Depends............
Been several years since I shot a bird over one. Frankly, I enjoy the experience more sans decoy.

In high winds I'm guessing it's even harder to shoot the milk jug.

No just paint them black and use a better stake...wind is not problem then....
Field - yes
Woods - no.
Could not care less what anyone thinks about how I hunt. To be fair, I don't care about how they hunt either. Hunt more, worry less.
No. Without equivocation.

I don't because I don't like dragging them around in the mountains and I don't have any fields to hunt.
Hunt more and worry less would help a lot of people be less bitter about being in the woods. As long as what people are doing is legal I say hammer down and have fun.

Yes, when bowhunting.
With a shotgun they are a pain in the butt.

Never
Yes....always.
But then again, I NEVER use a gun..
Haven't for the last 10 yrs.
I used them. But I never really thought that they made me more successful and several times I thought they hurt me. Plus they were extra weight in my vest. So I quit using them.
No.
Occasionally
Don't like to. But sometimes the situation dictates one could be helpful.
Used a fan a couple times, if that counts, then I'd say not anymore.

My thoughts exactly. Beat me to it. The only thing I would add is we need a lot more of keeping your business in your own blind and not in mine. Bubba
Sometimes, yes. Only when I hunt an open field, I have my doubts they're worth the trouble in the woods.
NO
Woods no
Fields yes
I guess it's yes, but rarely.
I put a hen and jake deke out on one hunt. They worked.
Yes, but not always. Depends on situation.
Sometimes I do. I even used an Orange safety decoy late one Spring to lure in a boss gobbler. His hen came in for a close look as well and 4-5 pesky jakes. I nailed the boss.
No with the rare exception.
sometimes and sometimes not, and I hunt mostly fields

That's Spanish for "Maybe".
:morning:
I have used them years ago on a few hunts but don't use them anymore. I hunt woods all the time.
no
Yes & No. We get two tags in NC, I use decoys to fill one tag & I hunt old school without decoys to fill the other.

Too dense? Please explain your insulting comment to me my good man. This subject has been covered 1,00,000,000 times. Unless your doing research for an article why do you need to know who hunts with decoys? A simple search would have given you the answers that you seek.Posts like this seem to me to be intended to get some arguments started for no good reason.
^^^My thoughts exactly. Just some troll trying to bring up the same crap that most seem opposed to. Do a search on the topic and read all the crap that was written in March. My decoys and I do just fine.

If it needs explaining then you really are too dense. I made it clear from the get go it wasn't a debate or a pissing match. If the subject didn't interest you then you should've skipped over it, good man. P.s. You left out a 0!
