Title: use of one sider turkey call?
Post by: adkmountainken on April 17, 2017, 07:58:45 PM
I picked up a Terry Baker one sider box call and was just wondering who uses a one sider as their "go to" call? trying to find some good videos or info on one sided calls but not having much luck, would love to talk with someone that can walk me through it and show me how to properly use this call to my advantage over ole Tom Foolery.....

My old Lynch Fool Proof is one sided and travels with me almost all the time.
I also have a one sided from Ernie Moyer (PA), not much to look at, but boy it sure talks turkey.
Very easy to play.
Look up on youtube for some hints.

There very simple to use almost (foolproof). practice with your box to find the sweet spot, mine plays best with very little down pressure on the lid.

I have not had much time to play been a busy week. great looking call, very heavy lid, I have never used a one sider but have been using box calls forever.  just wanted to add something a little different to the arsenal....

Basically you just run the right side only.
Same as running a 2 sided.
Not really hard.....actually very easy.
Make sure you are not touching the sound board.
Hold lightly, by the base, not the sides.
Slide the paddle, don't lift it.
Back and forth, after you find the spots that produce the sound you want.
Clucks............same as a 2 sided.
Run paddle handle towards you or paddle handle pointed up.
Almost any technique can be done on a single sided, except maybe a gobble, unless you are really good.
