Title: AR season.
Post by: cuttinAR on April 11, 2011, 11:49:28 AM
Scouting has been paying off here in AR.  I've heard four birds now, although only two that I think I know where they roosted.  Everything that has been gobbling has been doing so after 730 and nothing on the limb.  I went out saturday around 930 and found one hammering at 1030.  He would have been soooooooooo dead because I know the area he was in and I know exactly where he was going.

Going to try and make it out before work a couple of times this week as our season starts on saturday.  Hope I can get a bird down for the team.  Our season is so late the dogwoods have already dropped most of their flowers and are leafed out!!!!

What area of Arkansas do you hunt?

Primarily I hunt the Ouachitas south of Perryville.  I'll hunt wherever the turkeys are though, spent a few years up around Lake Nimrod on Ola Mountain if that is where your name comes from.

Also, I have access to some property in the Ozarks north of Greers Ferry lake, but the turkeys have all but vanished from it.   Poachers have taken their toll up that way.
