The first of five season in Southern Illinois opened on April 3rd in which I took a gobbler. We are currently just beginning the 3rd season and tomorrow will be the second day of it. So far, I've not seen any buffalo gnats and only a couple of mosquitoes even though I'm hunting in a wet area and the temperatures are ranging from 60 at day break to over 80 by noon. I sprayed permethrin for ticks. Let's hope that the lack of bugs continues and the birds respond to calling/decoys. At least I'm hearing gobblers on the roost along with hens that are accompanying them.
