I was thinking you folks could help me choose a new 20 gauge turkey gun; what say you? Thanks...
Benelli m2 or SX3...or depending on your budget 870, BPS, mossy
Beretta
I really really like my Benelli M2 20ga!!!!!
SA-459 Turkey Extra-Green
Hands down the youth 21 inch 870 Rem. 20 gauge...with Federal H W 7 , it's deadly with a Trulock non-ported 565 choke...Killed my second Boss bird with mine yesterday...what a gun...
I have a youth model 20 repurposed to a turkey killer for my daughter. Trulock choke and Fed HW#7. Deadly at 40.
I hunt a Weatherby SA-459 with a Trulock choke (I live near them, Sumtoy is aces as well) and Fed HW#7
My wife surprised me with a Stoeger 3020 that I'm falling in love with fast.
She even got me a Carlson long beard choke tube for, just haven't had the time off of work to do any pattern testing
Don't overlook the Franchi Affinity. :turkey2:
what Greg Massey said. I have that exact same set-up. awesome is putting it mildly.
1. Benelli M2
2. Benelli M2
3. Benelli M2
4. SX3/Affinity
5. Stoeger 3020
Mossberg Turkey Thug.
I own two, a Rem 870 Express 26" and a Benelli Nova full camo 24". Like them both. The Remington is less expensive. IMO either is a good choice.
Any one you want to put your hands on really. If it fits you, it'll be just fine. With all the choke options, I don't really see where ones better than another at this point. Sure everyone has their preferences but in the end, that's all it is. My 11-87 is good but no better than my 1300 really. Would love to have an sx3 but it is what it is. Get what you want and make sure it's a purchase you're satisfied with. If you're not happy with it, you'll not carry it anyway. Doesn't matter if it's a $50 or a $5000 gun. If you don't like it, it's just taking up another spot in the safe.
Any of you M2 haters looking to sell?
Well; it looks as if barrel length is personal choice, yes? Thanks again.
How many of you 20 gauge folks use an optic? thanks again and again...

870 Youth here too
1. 870. Build it like you want it
2. Franchi affinity /Stoeger m3020
Dress em like you want em, save all excess cash for chokes and start rolling your own. If you shoot the pixie dust, it ain't gonna matter what you get.

Best bang for your buck 870 or Mossberg. Not sure on bps.. I just bought one and going to check it out. I hear good things on Weatherby. I'm one of the benelli haters. I've owned 6 and sold them all. Regardless of which one you get, do your homework on loads and choke tube combos and you should be good to go. Wish you much success with your choice.
Very happy with my SX3 after a trigger job. My grandson killed a tom with it yesterday and he commented on how soft it shot. He became a fan.
For a ready to hunt gun, the Weatherby may be a top choice. My concern there was (may still be) the gun is rated for 1.25oz loads and down, not 1.5oz shot like the Federal HW 7's I like.
Weatherby SA-459 Turkey Extra-Green
just bought a 20 ga weatherby 22" compact, carlson .575 choke and 2 boxes of triple beard 5.6.7 to try next weekend....

Beretta
What does beretta offer? I would like a Beretta 20 ga. 24". I wish they made the 300 Outlander in 20 ga.
Depends on what your budget is
I like the Rem 870 or the Mossberg 20 gauge. They are not expensive, and have the track record of proven reliability.
Mossberg SA-20 is a sweet little gun
