Title: Hooks mouth call size
Post by: coyote1 on March 28, 2017, 11:14:53 PM
Can anyone tell me how their size would compare to a primos a- frame? The a- frame fits me very well but interested in trying different cuts. The 2 reed batwing still seems a bit too raspy on the front end of the yelp. This could be my minimal experience. My air flow does seem a bit right of center.

Any insight would be greatly appreciated.

Not sure what the tape is like on an a-frame, but just for comparison I'll use Woodhaven or even other primos standard calls. They all fit me pretty well and I have what I'd call a standard pallet. My first time with a hooks was an executioner off of Midwest turkey and it was entirely too small for my pallet. Next time I ordered one was from the actual Hooks website and I requested normal tape size and it fit like a glove. The first hooks I received was very close to a youth sized call. Hopefully this helps a bit. If I had experience with the a-frame I'm sure it'd be a tad more helpful! Haha

And just a add in for what's it's worth. I'm a right of center guy myself and the heartthrob from hooks is a winner. I really do like the executioner, but I have to "work" it a tad more since it's a center cut.

Thanks Coop.

The youth size might be good for me. I have a few calls the same size as woodhaven and have to trim them considerably to fit.

Get the full size tape and trim it if you need to.
