I ordered a few mouth calls from Halloran turkey calls on March 19th, but I have yet to hear anything about it. I sent them an email on March 23rd because I never received a confirmation email (except from PayPal that my order has been sent to Halloran Turkey Calls), but never heard anything back. I then called, but did not get ahold of anybody.
I realize that turkey call companies are busy this time of year, but I ordered a couple of calls from Hook's on March 26th, and they shipped out yesterday. I ordered another call from Hook's last night, and I have already received an email saying that it has shipped, so I consider 10 days of not hearing anything to be pretty poor.
I am not sure what else to do, but I will be contacting PayPal to get my money back, as well as taking my business elsewhere in the future.
Don't blame you a bit for taking your business elsewhere. The are so many other call manufacturers out there that will be happy for your business.

My children bought me a Metal Mouth for my birthday. There seemed to be a number of delays and the communication wasn't the best. It did come in time for my b-day party but it was a cliff hanger, so to speak...
That said, the call is exceptional. I think pretty much anything that David makes is in the upper ranks regarding quality and performance...It'll be worth the wait and the frustration. My advice...Just chill and let it happen as it does...I know you want it now but, like I say, I think you'll be happy when it does happen...
My understanding is he has another business as many do. His reception isn't the best n from what I heard he needs to go into town to get reception. Add to that a busy time of year for all makers n you can see the probs. Be patient, his calls are worth it imo
I already entered a claim with PayPal for a refund. Again, I understand that turkey call businesses are busy this time of year, but order from any other company (assuming the order is within reason, ie: a couple of mouth calls, not five or six items), and you receive your order within a week (I have ordered from two other companies recently and have already received the items, or at least an email saying that they have been shipped).
As far as a person having multiple businesses, or even bad cell service, that is not the consumer's fault or problem. That is something that the owner should take care of if he/she wants to run a business. Furthermore, if it is a one-man operation, common sense would dictate that a message be placed on the website alerting customers that the owner is not currently available to receive orders (being at shows/hunting/etc...).
Now, I can understand if I had ordered a pot call, a box call, some mouth calls, and some shirts or hats, but I ordered three mouth calls (a combo pack, so really one item) from a website. I, personally, find it hard to believe that an item can be ordered from a website, and I don't even receive a confirmation email.
I am sure Halloran is a great guy/company, and I don't expect my one issue to even be a second thought in their mind(s), but as a consumer, I certainly expect better.
I understand how you feel n I don't personally know the man but many makers are years out n the websites years since updated. Just my .02
David is a great guy, you only have to talk to him once to figure that out.
He makes some of the most desirable calls out there, high quality with exceptional sound.
All that comes with a cost. I'm sure he'd give up his regular job to to what he desires most, more time to make calls, but unfortunately most can't.
It says, or use to say 2 weeks on his website. I'd say that's just not gonna happen in march or April. Give him time, he will respond.
I'd bet if he answered every phone call he had a day in march or April he'd be on the phone 4 hrs a day.
Don't wait till March to order custom calls, I know we have all done it. Get them in the fall or early winter.
Like was said, some guys have a year or two waiting list.
I called and ordered a flame elder crystal mistress from him several weeks ago. just got word that it should ship early this week. He told me he was sorry and that he has been extremely busy. communication was not the greatest during this time. I agree with the op , he only ordered a pack of 3 mouth calls. I would think that would be an item that would ship fairly quick. I would understand a delay for a pot or box call this time of year , but mouth calls not so much.
If you still want the calls let me know. There's a local shop that I used to run that carries them and I can get them to send to you. They are great calls and some of the best I've run and I'll go through a lot of crap to always make sure there's several in my vest. That being said communications and confirmation was never a strong point when making orders but they always showed up and I was always very pleased.
If you're looking for a different maker I'd highly recommend Pecker Wrecker and or Gooserbat.
However if you want the Hallorans and I can help, let me know before I leave for Georgia in 10 days.

they also have some of hollorans calls at midwest turkey call maybe they could better suit your needs..
Hate you had a bad experience
I know he's been in Texas on a hunt last week and probably Florida if I was guessing.

I believe when you placed your order they were down in Texas hunting, he is home and trying to dig himself out on call orders and catch up on his day job work. If you call orders in he won't charge your card until he fills your order and ships as he knows he is running behind. I'd call him him up again, I called once yesterday and got David and spoke with him however I have sent emails in the past and never heard back.
This is a great example why some call makers avoid having websites or even facebook pages... the simple fact is these often aren't companies we are dealing with, most of the time its a single guy with a job, family, a hunting passion, and a hobby (call building)
I think you need to consider that when placing orders with makers, if you want immediate shipping I would suggest midwest or Macks PW which are companies

That's what I thought, 2-3 weeks wait for killer calls or something like that.
Again, I understand that people get busy. No big deal. I already cancelled my order with PayPal. I am going to give the Hooks a try and stick with those and Legacy.
UPDATE: David emailed me back, and it turns out that the calls had already shipped, but the tracking details were not uploaded due to order volume. My PayPal claim has been cancelled, so all should be well. I did not intend to bash anybody (I hope that is not what anybody got from my post), just needed to vent, I guess...
The calls should be here soon, and I am looking forward to trying them out.
Always better to call and check with someone before going to public forum and criticizing their business. These guys that build custom calls are turkey hunters. It's getting to be turkey season across the country. Have to take that into consideration when ordering custom calls. Good luck with your new calls. All halloran calls are great.
If I spent that much money on calls and didn't even receive a simple confirmation email regarding the order I'd be publicly complaining as well. That goes for anything I order from anywhere. There's a reason it's a standard.
A public forum is not the place to complain. Make a phone call and ask. Every time I've called halloran he personally has answered the phone. Just not the way to go about it IMO. Bash someone then get an email saying your order has shipped and now it's all good for you, but what damage have you done to the business reputation
What I don't understand, is why do people wait for the worst time,, IN SEASON,, To order ..........
I wish I would hear something on the limited edition halloran box ...ordered by email ..been 6 weeks haven't heard a thing..was suppose to hear something 1 week after ordered
Although it was not my intention to bash anybody, I am afraid that maybe it came off that way. As I told David in an email, after I had not heard anything within a week, I was under the impression that my order was not received, and PayPal charged me anyways, which is why I opened up a dispute (to get my money back). Once he was able to respond to my email, everything was cleared up and all is well.
What I will say is that, regardless of time of season, if an item is sold on a website, and it is obvious that certain websites are not just "small-time" business websites (if that makes any sense), one expects to at least hear back that their order has been received. When I did not hear anything back, nor get a reply from an email, I decided that I needed to do something to get my money back, as I was under the impression that something went wrong in the process.
As far as ordering "in-season" goes, when you order from a website, you expect things to work as they would "off-season," if that makes sense. Maybe I/we are just spoiled, I don't know...
Anywho, I have heard nothing but good things about Halloran calls, so I am looking forward to trying them out.
In my opinion, wait time is another topic. Not a bad one, but a different one.
The issue I see is CONFIRMATION!
If I order something from ANYONE and see my Paypal gets charged and I don't even get a CONFIRMATION of the order being received, I'd start to worry also.
At least confirm you got my order, as for the shipping time, I'll work with you.
If you are away, sick, etc. have a backup to at least CONFIRM order was received.
Just my honest opinion and not bashing anyone.
I think this is a great example of why many call makers won't have a website and when they do they don't allow online ordering. You simply can't apply the same rules to custom call makers as other retail products, website or not they will not work like Amazon. Most of them have fulltime job, families, as well as being avid turkey hunters. Call building might just be a hobby they try and share with us but tech skills and communication are not always on their list of attributes.
Somethings I've learned through my dealings, regardless of website I always call with my order even if it takes a while to get in touch. Makes it much more personal for both of you, I've also changed my mind on what i wanted/needed based on talks with the actually person building the calls. It always benefits to talk to the guy.
If you want something quick, go to Midwest supply or Mack PW those are businesses. In stock designations, customer services lines, confirmation emails the whole 9 and ship fast.
Always expect wait times, if you do place orders in the spring or during season, expect longer waits and slow communication, these boys are ate up with turkey hunting and could be traveling, I tried for weeks on end to get a hold of Scott Basehore once only to later find out he guides out of state. I've told call makers to not even worry about my orders until their seasons are done if I do order mid season.

Not trying to be confrontational but I don't think you are understanding here, these call makers are one man operations. The wait time with some of these callmakers is a LONG time. There websites are setup for so you can find them and order product. As a small custombait business owner I can tell you it costs a lot of money to keep a website going. To have an automated email for every order is a large expense for a small business owner. I can assure you as you are getting the conformation from Paypal that you paid someone at that very same time they are receiving an email from Paypal with your order. If you want mass produced with automated emails you have the option to buy from the big box stores. When you are dealing with small one man operations doing large volumes you have to exercise a little patience. These people have not built the reputations they have from ripping people off. So I guess what I am trying to say is cut them a little slack, especially this time of year. Just my opinion.
Aside from all of this, the average turkey hunter, or those who are just starting out (probably not a regular on OG) likely does not know who is a small-time call maker and who is the owner of a "big" turkey call company. That being said, when they go to a website to order some calls to try, they are under the assumption, and rightfully so, that the website that they are at will operate like any other product-selling website.
I have been around long enough that I know that Halloran is a custom call maker, who is not as big of a business as, say, Primos. Yes, I am sure that his calls are better. Yes, I am sure that his calls are more widely sought, by those in the know, than, say, Primos. That being said, when I go to a website, and can order a product (again, assuming it is a small order, in this case a combo of three mouth calls), the least that I expect/assume is a confirmation email. In this case, the owner was busy with a large volume of orders, and did not get the shipping information uploaded. I NOW know that, so all is well.
At the time, I was under the assumption that my order did not go through, even though PayPal charged my account. I simply filed a claim with PayPal in order to get my money back. Yes, the call makers work hard, especially this time of year, but let's not forget that I (as well as others) also work hard for my money. So, when I am charged for a product, but do not hear anything about my order going through, I am going to do what I need to do to get that hard earned money back.
For the record, I am not/was not under the impression that I was being "ripped off." I was merely under the impression that my order did not go through. Couple that with not being able to get ahold of anybody, and I feel as though I acted appropriately as a consumer spending money.
Now, with all that being said, I now have three calls from Halloran on the way, and three calls from Hooks on the way. Merry Christmas to me!!!
Hard to beat Hook's IMHO

It's your hard earned money, no reason you can't question you order. Glad it all worked out. We can't never have enough calls...
