As some of you may have read I missed my first bird a couple weeks ago after I took a bad shoot through some thick stuff, but his luck ran out yesterday. Set up yesterday evening and made my first series of yelps at 11:55 before I could finish he hammered down. I called again and he cut me off and he was less than 75-100 yards away. I waited about 5 minutes and did some purrs and clucks and he fired off again less than 30-40 yards....down side to this was that he was coming in right behind me. By this time I could hear him drumming and was lucky enough that he walked/ran right by me less than 10 yards away to have a talk with Ernie(my strutter), which ultimately resulted in him getting a piggy back ride at 12:03.
