Just curious, who's making some of the best mouth calls now? I usually stick to hooks and woodhaven, haven't kept up with many of the others. Just wanted to try something different. Thanks
I like Gooserbat. Sound good and very consistent

To me it is a tie between Steve Kinder at XT Calls and Sadler McGraw at Champions Choice.....
Both make extremely good calls, always several in my vest !!
Houndstooth
I've been very, very pleased with gooserbat mouth calls over the years. I also got some from Darren Dye that are really good as well. Either one are worth your time and money to order.

X2
Been VERY pleased with the quality !!
I'm a fan of the old Quaker boy , mouth calls with the white tape, you can still order these off Quaker Boy site. Twin II, True double and old boss hen... I don't use but a couple and these..I bought several few years ago. It's just what i started with over 25 years ago...I'm sure they are better ones i just don't care for all those cuts and V ...etc... What gets me with some of these mouth calls is the tape they use...

You got a contact for Steve? I'd like to try a few of his calls
I'm not certain who's the best but I do like my gooserbat calls a lot.
I been using the Woodhaven Copperhead 2 but I keep hearing good things about gooserbat. I need to give them a try.
A couple guys down here started making calls last year or 2. If you havent heard of em Sheaux Stopper custom calls yall look them up. I quit using everything else once i tried these. Fit good easy to run and sound great. My favorite is their v-cut.

Hooks. Great quality and service!
The only mouth calls you'll ever need-- HOOKS!
I like Gooserbat and Pecker Wrecker
Wow, thanks for all the feedback. I already use hooks, and I agree they make a great call. Sounds like I need to give gooserbat a shot
Hallorans run good for me. I can cutt really, really good on the black diaphram (black cherry is what it's called) flat liner (the white one) is a little higher pitched and is a nice change up. whichever calls you go with, just know everyone makes great calls and you can't and won't be disappointed with whichever ones you go with. I think having a call that's easy to run when your heart is pounding out of your chest is very important.
Swamp boy custom calls makes some really good quality calls. easy to blow and very realistic. he has a web site and is on facebook..
Been using the Halloran mouth calls almost exclusively the last 5 years and done real well with them. Picked up a few new ones at Unicoi this year from Pecker Wrecker that I've been really pleased with.
Mouth calls are extremely based on personal preference.. for me it's Halloran, houndstooth, hooks

Been using Hook's for a couple years now. Best I've used.
I've had good luck with the calls from Sadler Mcgraw (Champions Choice).
Picked up a couple two seasons back and really liked them. They've worked very well for me and I've piled up a bunch of gobblers with them.
Have another order of calls from him shipping to me right now! :z-guntootsmiley:
I have tried a pile of calls. Custom calls and calls you can buy from walmart. I keep coming back to Primos.

Another Hooks fan here. I used to like the XT calls but he quit making them so I switched to hooks two years ago and I am very satisfied.

Mr.Scott Hook for me,he makes the Devastators for me with proph on the bottom and stretched just a bit tighter!!
I love these "best mouth call" threads.
Here's the problem from my personal perspective. I have bought probably a couple of hundred mouth calls in my life,...and made a few hundred more. The fact is that you never know how good, or bad, any one mouth call will be until you pop it in your mouth and run it. Unless someone has recently developed a method of "testing and tuning" mouth calls, the only guy that really knows if one is going to work for them is the guy that buys the call, puts in in his mouth, and finds out for himself.
How many times have those of us that frequent these hunting forums heard the following: "I bought so and so's call because I heard it was really good and ended up throwing it in the trash because I couldn't run it worth a hoot"? I'll bet most of us have heard that a lot.
Here's my point: No one call, or call maker, on the market is going to suit everybody. There are just too many variables in the call making process,...and in the mechanics of the call user themselves,...for that to happen. HOWEVER, no matter whose calls you buy, mouth calls can be tuned,...but the guy that ends up using the call is the one that has to do that tuning!
Learn to do that, regardless of whose calls you buy, and you will be far, far ahead in terms of money spent and frustration with running mouth calls.
