Title: Hen Help
Post by: CoachHunter on March 25, 2017, 04:53:41 PM
Woods were on fire this morning in SC. 6-7 different birds gobbling and the only bird that flies down in my field is a solo hen. She hits the ground and she won't shut up. For the next 20 minutes she is at 10 yards between me and the decoys cutting, yelping, purring. Eventually two gobblers can't take it anymore and round the corner of the field on a sprint. They then decide to beat my jake into the ground. The hen is still so close I can't move. Finally she turns her head and I can get the gun up. One gets a headache and one was let go. First time I have had a hen actually help my hunt. I never had to make a call. (https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20170325/a038e863ebdb283cfe620a29ff338571.jpg)

Unfortunately I had the opposite one time.  Knew the gobbler could see her and he wouldn't close 60 yards.  Figured he must have been playing for the other team ;)
