Title: Fed HW7 lot# issue, please explain
Post by: OldSwamper on March 13, 2017, 06:32:47 PM
Not sure if this is an old issue or not, but I have multiple boxes of HW7s purchased from different locations.  So far, I have gotten 150-160s in my Weatherby SA459 20ga at 40 yards. My question, is what am I looking for on the box, for future purchases, so as not to buy a "bad box."  Thanks.

I've shot different lot numbers and they shot just as good. Sometimes shells will have a little difference in patterning, but for the most part you can't shoot the difference..so just don't over think it and go hunting...At over 5 dollars a pop not a lot of people going to shoot up a lot of these shells in a day...It's just like having a old machine loading and a new machine loading , ones going to be better than the other but still within range.

I patterned 15 boxes a few years back when they were way cheaper. Lots numbers do make a difference.

One lot was loaded with 6s and not 7s.

I'm pretty old school. We always found a load to shoot than stocked up on that lot. Things do change, primers, shot, shot hardness, buffer, wads, etc etc. if you like what you have why not play it safe n get a bunch
