Morning members-- last Spring on the very last day of the New York Spring Turkey Season-5/31-- I took my best gobbler spur-wise. I measured them wrong with the metal tape and using the cloth tape measure this morning, those spurs of this Boss gobbler come out to just slightly over 1 1/2". About 1/16" longer. I will stick with the cloth tape measure from now on.
There were 2 gobblers with the Boss----Brothers?? If so- they must be very old and I don't know if they will survive the Winter. We get hit on Tuesday with up to 18" of snow or more with Spring right around the corner!! I will look for those 2 in early May. Do members here think those 2 gobblers survived this New York Winter or died of old age ??
Doubt they died of old age, could have died from bad winter, who knows. My guess, and it is just a guess, is that they were a group of subordinate birds that didn't do much fighting and their spurs were not worn down.

We have had a mild winter this year. I bet your birds are still alive and kickin'.
Unless the old timer in the truck got to them. :turkey2:
Nice.
Thanks, I'll be in town all week!
