I shot the Long Beard XR 1 3/4 #5's last year and was satisfied. I am However going to try the Carlson LongBeard choke this year. Was wondering what you guys use or what you're switching to this year?
Rem. 12ga: Hevi 3" 6's through a Sumtoy choke
Weatherby 20ga: Federal 3" HW 7's through Carlsons choke
Both guns run a Fast Fire sight and smash birds, Pattern longbeards too but the expensive stuff is by far worth it, I prefer to over kill my birds
Over many years, I've shot 3" Winchester Double X with 2 oz. of buffered, copper plated #6 shot with great results. The Long Beard XR's have gotten so many good reviews, I've picked up a couple of boxes 1 3/4 oz #6 to test pattern. We'll see...
Indian Creek .675 and 2.5oz of TSS #9s
I'm using H13 3/2/6s in all of my guns this year.

Have considered trying the longbeards, but if they pattern tighter than the Hevi at close range, I'll more than likely just stick with the Hevi?

Interesting thread. I'm seeing a lot of variety. There really are so many lethal combinations out there today. My go to rig this season is a 870 youth 20 gauge shooting a 1 5/8 oz load of tss 9's through an Indian creek .555

This is gonna be my first year, maybe not using my 835 in long time. Prob gonna use my Ithaca 37 w #5 longbeards 1-7/8 loads w the briley choke but still doing some patterning.
Also got a Benelli 20 that threw some good patterns n may use that some.
