Title: 11-87 Hevi 13 #7
Post by: wolverines on March 09, 2017, 02:27:20 PM
I've been shooting H13 #7 and Nitro 4x5x7 through my 21" 3" 11-87 and a .665 primos JH.  Wanting to try a different choke.  Has anybody had any experience with the Remington and H13s?

Quite a few years ago I was shooting an 870 with 3.5" Hevi 13 #7's using a JH .660 and got 330 hits in a 10" circle at 40 yards.

I tried the longbeards and got a better pattern using the .665 than the .660.

I no longer have that gun but those are just my results.

I've shot many hundreds of 3" Hevi-13 shells with 2 oz. of #6 shot and many, many fewer of the #7 shot shells. There are several chokes that work well with those shells through Remington barrels.
The Hevi-13 Turkey choke https://allaboutshooting.com/products/hevi-13-turkey-choke-rem-choke-12-gauge-336 The JEBS https://allaboutshooting.com/products/jebs-12-gauge-turkey-choke-rem-choke the .650 and the Wright's https://allaboutshooting.com/products/wrights-rem-choke-12-gauge-turkey-choke-326 .660 are 3 that I can recommend.
I hope that helps some.
Thanks,
Clark

Rem 870/ Hevi Choke/ Hevi 13 3/2/7's
21" bbl

270's in a 10 at 40

For whatever reason I couldn't get good patterns from any of the other Hevi 13 loads. Win LB 6's shot 220's consistently as well.

Rem 870 21" barrel, rhino .660, hevi 3" 7's, 220-250ish in a 10 @40. Magblends shoot just as good just with little less hits.

Thanks for the insight thinking about trying the hevishot choke.  Has any shot the Nitros 4x5x7 through the hevI choke?
