What do you think the average shot distance is for archery turkey? Thinking of setting up an older bow to hunt with and would like to go with single pin setup.maybe a better question might be what is a recommended ethical max distance to shoot turkey with a bow.
Can give you My/Our set up, We kill at 7-10 yards with the bow. I have a number of sets we use depending on the hunt, if we are looking for video footage and where we are hunting. We usually kill a couple/few with the bow every year!
One of last years birds was with the bow and inside the 10 yard mark and she smoked him!

If you shoot often you know your personal effective range with a bow. I set my decoys within 10 yards but the most important part of the hunt is shot placement, no matter the distance. Be sure you know the best area to aim at turkey and it will die with sight of your setup.
I shoot all year long and consider myself to be pretty good. Shooting dots on a bag at 50 is easy with tuned equipment. With that being said, I wouldn't shoot a bird past 30.
Single pin set at 20 yards.
I've not shot many with a bow but the last two were 17-20 yards. I was comfortable out to about 25. No blind or decoy for me. For those who use them I could see 10-15 yards being a good range.
HHA optimizer ultra lite with the light. As bright as sights get (you'll need it because you're in a blind). Really good decoys (avian, deception, DSD). Set them at about 7 yards. You won't need to shoot past 20. More often than not you'll shoot at 7.
