If I could pick only 1 State to turkey hunt in for the rest of my life, it would be Kansas!  This will be my 6th year in a row to make the trip - I can't wait!!!   :z-guntootsmiley:

Don't believe the reports. They're all lies. There are very few turkeys in Kansas and you should all save your time and money and stay away.  :goofball:

I'll be there for the opener.  Hope the weather and birds cooperate.  We're heading to north central KS.  First time to ever hunt the state. :fire:

We usually try to be there on the first Monday after it opens (18th this year).  It's usually good then - real good.  :z-guntootsmiley:

It all depends on what part of the state you are going to.  Some parts there aren't as many because of several years of a very wet spring/early summer, other parts of the state the birds are doing great!!!

I have only been once....by myself and it was a unsuccessfull...maybe I'll do better this year out there...I hunted out around Wilson hunting WIHA...and only was able to call up a couple of jakes and passed on them...no longbeards on that trip...but it was pretty much a learning experience for the most part...

Birds are still grouped up where I am at.  Today we had rain mixed with snow and sleet.  Next week is suppose to be nicer.  Hope that will help break the birds up.
