What is the best/easiest lathe chuck to purchase?I am a novice I would like to add!

There are several good ones. Be sure to get a four jaw chuck. The standard 50 mm jaws will be suitable for most of your needs. The important thing is to get a chuck insert that matches your headstock spindle. I use the Nova G3 and the Nova SuperNova2 and am pleased with either. You might also want to purchase a Nova Stebcenter drive center. It prevents you from having to take off the chuck every time you are needing to round a square stock between centers.
